OCTOBER CONFERENCES 2021

THE 42nd OCTOBER GATHERINGS WERE HELD IN IDVOR IN 2021.

Exactly 140 years have passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the USA and Serbia and 100 years since the proclamation of Mihajlo Pupin as an honorary citizen of Zrenjanin and Bled, which was discussed by Dr. Ivan Bošnjak, former State Secretary in the Government of Serbia.


These events marked the 42nd October Gatherings, whose topic was Let's change Serbia with Pupin's system of value, which was discussed by Prof. Dr. Ivica Radovic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Education and Dr. Radovan Pejanovic, Professor at the University of Novi Sad.


The President of the Mladen Selak Foundation, Milan Božic, in his basic representation spoke about economic development by Path to the Innovation Society and pointed out that the Foundation has so far distributed more than 21,000 copies of Pupin's autobiography, more than 1,500 students have received Selak cash prizes, Pupin medals were received by more than 160 fighters for the truth and greatness of Mihajlo Pupin, and 18 of them were chosen as honorary citizens of Idvor.


The jury of the Foundation awarded the traditional October awards: Pupin's medal to Prof. dr. Radovan Pejanovic from Novi Sad, Momcilo Stanic, activists of the association "Mihajlo Pupin" from Ljubljana, the daily "Vecernje novosti", RTS journalist Boban Kovacevic and local television from Kovacica.


Selak's cash prizes were awarded to the best students: Veljko Radic, Mateja Vukelic, Aleksa Madjarevic and Aleksandar Cucic.


This year, at the October meetings in Idvor, honorary citizens of Idvor were announced: Dr. Vladimir Cizelj, Director of the Vlatacom Institute of High Technologies and Dr. Dragoljub Cucic, Director of the Center for Young Talents in Pancevo.
 

During cultural part of the ceremony, the guests were delighted with the performance of Petra Vitomirov and Helena Delic, from the Music School "Jovan Bandur" from Pancevo, who performed several Banat kolos (folk music compositions) on tamburitza with their professor Aleksandra Jovic.
 

Pupil Nikolina Žarkov recited Lazar Laušev's song "Banat’s son".
 

In the end, the delegation of the Gatherings laid flowers at Pupin's monument.
