Dragutin Zelenović

Dragutin Zelenović (Sirig, May 19, 1928 - Novi Sad, April 27, 2020) was a full professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Rector of the University of Novi Sad, and corresponding member of SANU.
As a thirteen-year-old boy, he survived the terrible crime committed by the Hungarian army in Sirig in April 1941. After that, one part of the family fled from Sirig to Herzegovina.
He graduated the Mechanical Engineering University in Belgrade in 1957.
1957-1965 worked as and engineer-constructor, designer, organizer and techincal director at JUGOALAT in Novi Sad.
1965/66 worked as a design engineer for technological processesat the Department of Machinary and Tools in Novi Sad.
1970-72 Completes his Master's studies with the title Magistrar of techno-economic sciences.
1973-75 Completes his doctor's studies with a PhD in techincal sciences.
1966 - 1996 Works as a professor at University of Technical Science in Novi Sad (1975-1979), asa vice-dean (1985-1987) and dean (1987-1989). As vice-dean and dean, professor Zelenović designed, processed conceptual solutions and lead the process for building and reconstruction the University in Novi Sad.
At the National Assembley on Januaray 15, 1991, he was chosen as the President of the First Republic of Serbia, recommended by Slobodan Milošević, after the SPS party's victory at the election in December 1990.
2006 - Profesor Emeritus, ECPD - European Center for Peace and Development in Belgrade.
Profesor Zelenović published 26 technical books and numerous works which are cited within the country and internationally.
