Branko Krga

Branko Krga (Daruvar, February 18, 1945) is a retired general, military attaché in Moscow and Chief of the General Staff of the Yugoslav Army first, then later of the Army of Serbia and Montenegro from 2002 to 2005.
As a civilian, he graduated from high school and the Faculty of Philosophy. He also graduated from the Military Academy of the Land Forces in 1967.
He performed important command and staff duties in the army. Among other things, he was the commander of the motorized brigade, and spent most of his career in the Intelligence Service. During his military career, after the Military Academy, he graduated from the Higher Military-Political School in 1980 and the School of National Defense in 1986. He served twice as a military diplomat, in Prague and in Moscow.
After returning to the country, he was appointed Chief of the Intelligence Directorate, from 1994 to 1997. From 1997 to 1998, he was an adviser to the Minister of Defense on defense policy and international military cooperation. In January 1999, he was elected once again Chief of the Intelligence Directorate, where he remained until 2001, when he became Deputy Chief of the General Staff. In June 2002, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Yugoslav Army. He held that position until January 2005 and retired in February 2005.
He received the rank of major general in 1995, the rank of lieutenant general in 1999 and the rank of general in 2002.
Since 2007, he has been a professor and deputy director at the Faculty of Diplomacy and Security (FDB) in Belgrade
