Aleksandar Marinčić

Dr. Aleksandar Marinčić (Sinj, June 9, 1933 – Belgrade, May 12, 2011) was an academic, a professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade.

​Since 1935 he lived permanently in Belgrade. He finished primary and secondary school in Belgrade, as well as electrical engineering studies in 1956 as the best student of his generation. He received his master's degree in 1957 and his doctorate in 1963 in Sheffield, England. He became an assistant in 1958, an assistant professor in 1965, an associate professor in 1974, and a full professor in 1980. In the meantime, he worked as a UNESCO expert in Ankara, as well as at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Niš and Novi Sad.

He is the founder of the Association for Microwave Technique, Technologies, and Systems (MTTS) and made an immeasurable contribution to the work of the IEEE MTT-S chapter, the Society for the Dissemination of Scientific Knowledge "Nikola Tesla", and the Tesla Memorial Society of New York. He also helped organize ETRAN, TELSIKS, TELFOR and "Nikola Tesla" conferences and gave a significant contribution to the popularization of the work of Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin. He had a wide range of interests in science. He was an exceptional scientist with a strong sense of experimental research, a distinguished university professor, an excellent pedagogue, a man of exceptional moral values ​​and a true role model for students and researchers.

He was elected a corresponding member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in April 1991, and a full member in October 2000.

He is the author of about 200 papers in the field of microwaves and optoelectronics. He studied the life and work of Nikola Tesla and wrote numerous texts and books about him. He is also the editor of Selected Works of Nikola Tesla in 7 volumes.

He was the director of the Nikola Tesla Museum from 1982 to 1996.

He was the President of the Program Committee of the Telecommunication Forum TELFOR.
