Đorđe Zuber

Đorđe Zuber was a prominent activist of the Association of Inventors of Yugoslavia, a person committed to the advancement of society. He spent his entire working life working in the fields of technology and invention, be it in the military industry, economy, or other fields. He attended the I and II Congress of Inventors of Yugoslavia, the IFIA World Congress of Inventors in Bled, the International Conference "Invention as a Factor in the Development of National Technologies" in Belgrade in 1981. He was an active participant in the events leading to the proclamation of the Innovation Movement from 1974 to 1976. It can be said that there was no significant action in which he did not passionately participate. He won Pupin's gold medal at the October Meetings 2018 held in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

On behalf of all who were awarded, ​Đorđe Zuber gave the following acceptance speech:

Dear friends,

I feel very excited as the winner of this great award and as the person who received the task to thank you on behalf of all the winners. The innovation movement is the most beautiful and most useful thing that our country has had. It has been a part of the worldwide struggle of underdeveloped countries to reduce the gap between poor and rich countries. That is why the highest authorities in the country supported the movement to strengthen the Yugoslav economy back then by developing its own technologies.

You can see best how strong the movement is from my own example because you remember people who have been retired for more than 20 years ago and their contribution. The innovation movement has always fought for its people and true values, and that is the guarantee of its eternity. In that context, I would especially like to point out the good example of the Chamber rewarding a young inventor.

​OBITUARY IN THE DAILY "POLITIKA"

We would like to inform the public that a great friend and deserving member of the Managing Board of the Foundation, Đorđe Zuber, has left us and moved to the Kingdom of God.

For us, he was Saint George, the personification of humanity, calmness, justice, and love. He had a long life that he lived wisely, he solved life's problems with courage and heroism. He was loyal to his family and friends, he loved Belgrade, where he lived, and Cetinje, where he will rest forever. This year, he was not with us in Idvor for the first time, his illness prevented him from celebrating 40 years of the October Meetings, which he attended regularly for 39 years. You took a lot of beautiful things with you from this world. Our dear Đorđe, your Božić and your two Radas will never forget you. We believe that we will be with you in the eternal Kingdom of God. Until then you remain in our hearts.

The funeral will be held at the cemetery Novo Groblje on Saturday, November 9, at 10am.
